Inspiration Station

Module 3 is nearly over. The artefact, feedback and professional inquiry have been submitted. I am now turning my attention towards my presentation.  Dr Adesola Akinleye has asked us to blog about what has been inspiring us over the festive break. I came across this video entitled: "Why the School System is Outdated" by Gary Vaynerchuk.  I hope that you are able to view this video on the link below: https://www.facebook.com/gary/videos/613787749153202/UzpfSTUwNTE2MTMzMzoxMDE1NjgwMDE0ODYwNjMzNA/ In the video, Gary Vaynerchuk states that " information is a commodity ", so easily available at the palm of our hands, that the global school system is now outdated. We no longer need to memorise information for tests, as we can access it via the internet within seconds. He points out that the fundamental flaw in education actually comes down to parenting, not teaching. He argues that we need an education system focused on promoting happiness for our chi...

My Module 3 Artefact

Image
Professional Inquiry ‘The Importance of a Creative Methodology when Teaching Shakespeare’ My artefact is indicative of my professional inquiry, drawing together the key themes and findings that emerged throughout the research and analysis process. The Globe Theatre represents Shakespeare, his life, work and plays. The theatre was distinct to me as it represents the artistic lineage and historical relevance that has deep roots within my professional practice. The structure of the theatre are the foundations of teaching Shakespeare. Within the theatre, it opens up for you to see the world of my inquiry. On the ceiling above the stage, I have represented the emerging theme of testing within academia. An emerging theme from my inquiry was the limitations of a testing culture of modern-day education, having to work within the confines of an area.  The audience represents culture itself. Each audience member has been coloured in by my pupils. I a...

The Ways Ideas can be Communicated

Image
Monday 2nd December's Skype call was aimed for module three students, the subject was 'the ways in which ideas can be communicated'. It was a lively discussion that followed a natural discourse with valuable contributions from all. We discussed our artefacts and how these relate to our inquiry process and in turn, how this informed our inquiry further. There were some important points raised throughout the call, which Dr Adesola Akinleye asked us to reflect upon. Fundamentally, it is that each part of the BAPP, and in particular, our professional inquiry helps to inform form another. The essay, artefact and presentation are all interconnected. They can help give inspiration to new thoughts and ideas which have emerged, and continue to emerge throughout this process. This helps us to develop our work and our thoughts deeper too.  Another valuable point that was raised was the difficulty in finding the balance between the confines of inquiry and the freedom of art. W...

Skype Call – 27th November 2019

Image
The Skype call on Wednesday 27 th November 2019 was an open discussion for all three modules. We discussed the journey of our practice and how this can be communicated in the form of an artefact. We then discussed the importance of collaboration too. Remembering that success does not come alone. An artefact, also isn’t representative of just one person either, however, it must reflect yourself, as essentially, you are the heart of your practice.  Charlie acknowledged she has learnt how to process information throughout the course and turn that into knowledge. Then we thought about the importance of structuring an inquiry for those going into Module 2. A basic structure is key as the foundation to your inquiry. Once you have a structure, you are then able to veer off the path, reflect back and see the new pathways you have formed.   This is all part of the journey. Ultimately, this course, the inquiry, the artefacts are all a narration of ourselves....
