Learning as Part of a Community (Networking)

In 2011, I set up my own business. I started it from nothing not knowing what lies ahead. I have failed many times, I have gotten things wrong and made poor choices; however, fast forward eight years and I feel incredibly lucky. I feel like I have reached a level of success that I am proud of and most importantly, I absolutely love what I do.

I didn't do any of this on my own though. In fact, I am still always asking for help and advice to see how things can be improved. My point being, that success and learning has only really happened because of the network I am in, the people who have guided me along the way, taught me lessons and made me question my professional practice. Success doesn't happen on your own.

What I have thorough enjoyed throughout the BAPP course so far, is the community that we share in. Sometimes I think it is easy to feel isolated and confused, particularly at the beginning. But by carrying on the conversation and sharing blogs, it is nice feel a part of a collective movement of learning, even if our individual practice can be a little esoteric. Our pathways can cross and new emerging ideas can spark in each other.

Adesola remarked in this afternoon's Skype session, how we can be over all parts of the world yet we can connect with one another in our own time and space. We have Web 2.0 to thank for that. I am looking forward to reading and commenting on the collective of BAPP blogs, particularly as I embark upon Module 3. The final chapter of the course, but not of my own professional development. My growing network and my ever propelling pathway through my professional practice.
